Thanks Mesuli for setting this blog up. Indeed, it will be a very useful forum for all of us to engage with the sometimes tricky question of the relationship between civil society and human rights.
Hope all students will find the time and space to share their ideas, reflections, comments and questions on the course material.
This week, we are dealing with fact-finding and reporting (domestic examples) and will conclude the theme on Thursday with a discussion of the two newspaper articles; one by Kenneth Roth of HRW and the other by an unknown writer in response to Roth. Take note that students in section 2 (Groups 4-9) are attending the lectures this week while those in section 1(Groups 1-3, who are currently in the field), will attend next week where will discuss the same readings. Section 2 students will then be in the field.
On Monday 5 September, we will recombine the sections and the groups will present their practical assignments. We will thereafter carry on the classes as normal.
